Is a box spring needed on a platform bed?
My boyfriend and I bought this bed:

Our mattress is a Kingsdown, and is made entirely of latex. It’s allegedly going to last forever. That aside, with a box spring, it sits 22 inches high on the bed. The bed has slats, so do I need the box spring? will a platform bed be enough support? If I could be rid of the box spring it would be less high up and more attractive, but I’m worried I’ll hurt the mattress.
No a box spring is not necessary, but I would add a sheet of plywood or MDF underneath it for added support. I did that on my platform adding the wood on top of the slats for better performance, easy removal for cleaning and it tends to hold the fitted sheet better to the mattress.
